Try to get there before 9 a.m. The crowds thin out and the heat is lower, especially in September. After the Minar, walk to the nearby Qutub Ki Masjid and the Iron Pillar. From there you can stroll through the Mehrauli Archaeological Park and finish near the Lotus Temple. That makes a full day without rushing.
