Hi everyone,
I’m planning a quick 2‑day visit to Halebidu and want to make the most of the Hoysaleswara Temple, which I’ve read is open 24 hours and has free entry. I’ve heard it’s best to visit from October to December, so I’m thinking of traveling in early November.
I’ll be arriving by bus at the Halebidu Bus Stand and possibly staying in the nearby town. Apart from the temple, I’d love to see a few of the nearby attractions (like the Halebidu Archaeological Museum or Belur Chennakeshava Temple) and maybe catch a sunset somewhere nearby.
What would a good day‑by‑day plan look like? Any advice on the best times to visit the temple, how long to stay, and how to fit in the other sites without rushing? Also, any tips on local transport or small eateries near the temple would be appreciated.

Arrive early, around 6 am, to beat the crowds at Hoysaleswara. Spend two hours exploring the temple and its carvings. Then head to the Halebidu Archaeological Museum for an hour. In the afternoon, take a short auto to Belur Chennakeshava Temple; spend about 90 minutes there. For sunset, find a spot overlooking the Kaveri River or the temple courtyard. Local auto rickshaws run between the sites, and a few dhabas near the temple offer simple, fresh meals like dosa and filter coffee.
