Where can I stay near Hiriyur Temple for a day trip?

Ragesh Ranganathan · 4 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m planning a quick day trip to Hiriyur Temple and wonder if there are any accommodation options close by. The temple is open all day and free to enter, but I’d like a place to rest if I need to catch an early train or bus back. Are there any guesthouses or hotels around the Hiriyur Bus Stand or Railway Station? Also, is it worth staying overnight in nearby towns like Chitradurga, which is about 50 km away?

If you’re staying overnight, the nearest options are a few budget guesthouses just outside the bus stand. They’re usually around 10 15 minutes from the temple and offer simple rooms with free Wi Fi. Chitradurga has a small hotel chain that’s a 50 km drive away; it’s a bit pricier but gives you a quiet night and easy access to the next day’s train.

If you’re only staying a few hours, the small guesthouses around the bus stand usually have a few rooms that can be booked for a half day. They’re close to the station, so you can catch an early train after the temple. If you do decide to stay overnight, Chitradurga’s budget hotels are a quick 50 km drive and give you a quiet night before the next day’s train.

You can usually book a half day room at one of the small guesthouses just outside the bus stand they’re within a few minutes of the temple and have a few rooms that can be taken for a few hours. If you do want to stay overnight, the budget hotels in Chitradurga are only a 50 km drive, but the town is a bit quieter and the trains run early in the morning. Would you need a place that’s close to the station or are you fine with a short drive?

The railway station in Hiriyur has a few local trains that run early in the morning, usually around 5:30 am and 6:30 am. If you’re only staying a few hours, most guesthouses near the bus stand offer day rates, and you can drop your luggage at the station’s luggage room. If you decide to stay overnight, Chitradurga’s budget hotels are a 50 km drive and give you a quiet night before the next day’s train.

If you’re only staying a few hours, the railway station’s luggage room lets you drop bags and head straight to the temple. For an overnight stay, a short 15 minute walk from the bus stand to a local guesthouse is usually enough; they often offer day rates. If you’re willing to drive a bit, the small hotels in Chitradurga give a quieter night and you’ll still catch the early trains the next morning. Are you looking for anything specific like a breakfast option or a room with a view?

I’ve seen a few small guesthouses just outside the bus stand that offer day rates and luggage storage at the station. If you’re thinking about an overnight stay, the nearest larger town is Chitradurga, about 50 km away the local hotels there are a short drive and give a quiet night before the next train. Does the early morning train schedule work for you, or would you need a place with breakfast included?

You can also drop your luggage at the railway station’s storage room and head straight to the temple. If you need a quick rest, the guesthouses just outside the bus stand usually have a few rooms for day use. For an overnight stay, Chitradurga’s hotels are only a 50 km drive, and the early morning trains there give you a fresh start for the next leg of your trip.

You could also use the small cafeteria near the bus stand they serve idlis and filter coffee all day so you won’t have to wait for the next train to grab a bite. If you need a place to store luggage overnight, the station’s storage room is free for a few hours and you can drop bags before heading to the temple.

You might also check the small tea stall near the bus stand they serve idlis and filter coffee all day, so you can grab a quick bite before heading back to the station. If you need a place that offers breakfast with your stay, let me know and I can point you to a guesthouse that includes a simple continental option.

If you only need a quick nap, many guesthouses near the bus stand let you drop a bag in a small storage room and then head straight to the temple. Some of them also run a small tea stall that serves idlis and filter coffee all day, so you can grab a light bite before the early morning train. This way you avoid waiting at the station and still have a place to rest if the day gets tiring.
