Family route to Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary and nearby spots

Harpreet Grewal · 4 weeks ago ·18 replies

We’re a family of four planning a day visit to Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary. We want to know a smooth route that lets us also see a bit of Rishikesh and Rajaji National Park without spending too much time on the road. Since the sanctuary opens 24 hours and has free entry, we’re free to start early. Do you have a recommended order for visiting the sanctuary, then heading to Rajaji NP, and finally a quick stop in Rishikesh? Also, are there any kid‑friendly activities or spots within the sanctuary worth stopping at?

Start early from your base, head to Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary first the drive takes about an hour from Rishikesh. Inside, the kids will enjoy the visitor centre and the easy walking trail that loops past the river, where you can spot deer and birds. After a quick lunch, drive north to Rajaji National Park; the main entrance is about 45 minutes away. Spend a couple of hours on a short jeep safari or a walk through the forest. Finally, head back south to Rishikesh for a relaxed evening; you might stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a casual coffee before heading home. You could hit Saraswati first, then head north to Rajaji’s main entrance around the mid morning. After a quick safari, drive back south and stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a coffee before heading home. Inside Saraswati, the kids will love the small river walk trail and the bird watching spot near the visitor centre, which is a short, easy loop.

After the river walk at Saraswati, the kids can enjoy the small playground near the visitor centre where they can feed the deer. From there a quick 45 minute drive takes you to Rajaji’s main gate for a short jeep safari. On the way back, stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a relaxed coffee before heading home.

You could finish the Rajaji safari around midday and then head straight to ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a quick coffee break before heading back. The kids will also love the small playground near the visitor centre in Saraswati where they can feed the deer while you catch a glimpse of the river walk. This keeps the drive short and gives everyone a relaxed end to the day. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

You could start at Saraswati around 6 am to catch the early light on the river walk. After a quick stroll, head north to Rajaji’s main gate for a 2 hour jeep safari, then return south and stop at Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort for a relaxed lunch before heading back. The kids will also enjoy the small playground near Saraswati’s visitor centre where they can feed the deer.

A good tweak is to hit Saraswati first thing in the morning, then head north to Rajaji for a quick 1 hour jeep safari around noon. After that you can loop back south and stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a quick coffee before heading home. Kids often love the small playground near the visitor centre in Saraswati where they can feed deer.

If you hit Saraswati first thing in the morning, the kids can play at the playground near the visitor centre and then walk the river trail. After a quick lunch, head north to Rajaji for a one hour jeep safari. On the way back, stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for coffee before heading home. This keeps the drive short and gives everyone a relaxed end to the day.

You could start at Saraswati right after dawn to avoid the midday heat, then head north to Rajaji’s main gate for a 30 minute walk or a quick jeep ride. On the way back, stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a light snack before heading home. If you’re looking for a quieter break, the Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort offers a peaceful riverside spot for a quick rest.

You could head to Saraswati right after dawn so the kids aren’t too hot on the river walk. After a quick stop at the visitor centre, drive north to Rajaji’s main gate for a short walk or 30 minute jeep safari. On the way back, a quick coffee break at ArtBuzz Rishikesh will let everyone relax before heading home.

If you leave early you could hit the river walk at Saraswati first, then drive about 45 minutes north to Rajaji’s main gate for a quick 30 minute walk or jeep ride. On the return leg, instead of a coffee stop, consider a short break at Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort; the riverside setting is calm for kids and lets you stretch before heading home.

You could start at Saraswati around 5 am to beat the heat, walk the river trail and let the kids feed the deer near the visitor centre. Then head north to Rajaji NP for a 30 minute jeep ride or a short walk. On the return, instead of a coffee, a quick stop at Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort gives the kids a calm riverside break before heading home.

A quick stop at Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort after the Rajaji walk gives the kids a calm riverside break before heading back to Rishikesh. The resort’s open lawns are great for a short stretch, and the view of the Ganga is a nice wind down after the forest.
