Combining Dang Forest with Saputara for a day trip – is it doable?

Naksh Malhotra · 1 month ago ·20 replies

Planning a quick visit to Dang Forest and wondering if I can squeeze in Saputara Hill Station the same day? Dang Forest is open 24 hours and free entry, and it’s about 50 km from Saputara. The bus stop at Ahwa and the railway at Vyara can get me to the forest, and a cab from major cities is available. Would the travel time and distance make a combined itinerary realistic?

If you start early from Saputara you can hit the forest by late afternoon. The 50 km drive takes roughly 1.5 hours if the roads are clear, so you’ll have a few hours for the forest before dark. A good spot to stay after the trip is Patang Residency in Saputara, which is only about 21 km from the forest entrance and offers easy access to both the forest and the town.

You could try an overnight stay at Patang Residency in Saputara. It’s only about 21 km from the forest entrance, so you can drive to the forest early, spend a few hours, then head back to the hotel for a good night’s rest before heading home.

If you leave Saputara around 6 am, you’ll hit the forest by 7:30 and have roughly two hours before sunset. Afterward, a quick drive back to Saputara lets you grab dinner at a local eatery before heading to a nearby stay like Patang Residency to rest. That way you get a solid forest visit and still enjoy Saputara’s evening vibe. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you head out from Saputara around 4 pm you’ll hit Dang Forest by about 5:30. That gives roughly an hour before sunset to walk a short trail, then you can drive back by 7 pm and still catch dinner in Saputara. Staying at Patang Residency the next night keeps the travel time low and you’re only about 21 km from the forest entrance.

You could hit the forest around 5 pm and still get back by 7:30, but you’ll only see the late afternoon light. If you want to stay longer, consider a quick overnight at Patang Residency so you can rest before the next day’s drive. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re already staying at Patang Residency, you can leave early, hit the forest by mid afternoon, and still have time for dinner in Saputara before heading back. The 50 km drive takes about 1.5 hours, so a 4 pm departure gives you a couple of hours in the forest before sunset. This keeps the day tight but doable.

You could leave Saputara around 3 pm, hit Dang Forest by 4:30, then return by 6 pm. That gives you a full two hour window in the forest and still leaves time for a quick dinner in town before heading back to your accommodation.
