Are Gandhi Smriti crowds heavy early in the morning?

Priya Singh · 1 month ago ·21 replies

I’m planning to visit Gandhi Smriti early tomorrow morning and wonder if it’s usually crowded. The place is open 24/7 and free to enter, but I’ve heard peak times are in the late morning and afternoon. Should I expect a quiet visit at 6 am or is it still busy due to the nearby Sabarmati Ashram crowd?

If you get there at 6 am it’s usually pretty calm. Most visitors head to Gandhi Smriti later in the morning or after lunch, and the nearby Sabarmati Ashram tends to fill up a bit later as well. Just leave a little buffer for the early morning crowd that sometimes shows up for the morning prayer session. If you’re staying close by, the ARTILLA INN is only a short walk from both sites.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN you’ll have a quick walk to both sites. The early morning crowd is usually light, but a few locals often show up for the morning prayer at Gandhi Smriti, so you might see a handful of visitors before 7 am. After that it stays calm until the mid morning rush that follows the ashram. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN you’ll be right next to both sites. A 6 am visit to Gandhi Smriti usually means only a handful of early morning locals, so the main crowd that gathers around 10 am at the ashram hasn’t yet arrived. The area stays fairly quiet until the mid morning rush.

If you head there at 6 am you’ll usually see just a handful of locals doing the morning prayer. The main stream of tourists arrives around 9 or 10 am, so the site stays fairly quiet until then. Staying at the ARTILLA INN puts you within a short walk of both Gandhi Smriti and the Sabarmati Ashram, so you can hop back if you want to catch the later crowds.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN, you’ll be right next to Gandhi Smriti, so a 6 am visit will let you beat the mid morning rush. The only crowd you’ll see is a few locals doing the morning prayer; the larger tourist stream usually starts around 9 or 10 am. After that you can hop back to the ashram if you want to catch the later crowds.

By 7 am the place is still calm, and the larger tourist influx starts around 9 or 10 am, so you’ll have a quiet visit before the mid morning rush.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN, you’ll be just a minute’s walk from Gandhi Smriti. The early morning prayer crowd is usually a handful of locals, so 6 am should feel quite quiet. Just keep an eye on the traffic coming from the Sabarmati Ashram it starts to pick up around 9 am.

If you’re staying at the 3 BY OYO Nami Residency, the walk to Gandhi Smriti is still under a minute, so you’ll get there just as the early morning prayer crowd has finished. The ashram’s traffic usually ramps up around 9 am, so you’ll have a quiet slot before the main influx. If you’re curious about the vibe later in the day, you could loop back to the ashram after your visit.

If you’re staying at 3 BY OYO Nami Residency the walk to Gandhi Smriti takes less than a minute, so you’ll arrive right after the brief morning prayer crowd has finished. The larger stream of visitors usually starts around 9 or 10 am, so a 6 am visit should stay quite calm.

If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN, the parking at Gandhi Smriti is free, so you won’t have to wait for a spot when you arrive at 6 am. That makes the early morning visit even smoother compared to staying further away.

You’ll see only a handful of locals doing the morning prayer, so the place stays quiet until about 9 am. If you’re staying at the ARTILLA INN, you can walk over in under a minute and even grab a free parking spot, which makes that early morning slot even smoother. After you’re done you can hop back to the ashram if you want to catch the later crowds.
